'give a little bit' 28/2/2010

A call to you all. The Verge are hosting a benefit for victims of the Haiti earthquake.

We are hosting a full day of music with a view to raising as much cash as possible.

The deal is similar to the last fund raiser hosted at the Globe in aid of the Tsunami that hit South East Asia. Bands wishing to play have to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. Solo acoustic performers need to raise £25 in sponsorship.

All money raised will go directly to the Disaster Emergency Committee.

The date for the gig is 28/2/2010

We will have a PA downstairs and the room upstairs. We are hoping to get at least twenty performers involved and the minimum we should raise from sponsorship alone should be £750.

People so far that have committed to this are Biggles, David Gordon. Garron Frith. Ann English. roomthirteen. The Mighty Nelson.

for a sponsorship form e-mail info@roomthirteen.net or brian@roomthirteen.net

We will keep updating where we are with this on here.

Please help out with this if you can. And please pass onto anyone you know that might be interested in getting involved in anyway.

Cheers for now

OK kids. The response for this from the musical community has been amazing.

Bands confirmed. Biggles. Journeyman. Spandex. Magic Alex. The Mighty Nelson. Detours. North. roomthirteen. Twenty Flight Rock Special guest band who we can't name as yet.

Possibles. Kristyna Miles and band. Not sure about George Borowski.

Solo. Garron Frith. David Gordon. Steve O Donaghue. Pete Greenfield. Ann English. Jolly Jock. Dom Collins. roomthirteen (acoustic) Neil Gardnier. Phil Stock.

Awaiting to confirm. Alex Stone. Martin Ainscough. Mark Knight.

Epic response. I am waiting till the end of this week and then will be in touch with times slots.

Thank you to everyone for helping out with this and for raising much needed cash.

If all goes according to plan we will rasie at least £750 which Barclays have tentaively agreed to double. £1500 before the day is an immense effort.

So far in terms of raffle prize we have
a tour of the 'Shameless' set.
A Coronation Street script.
T-shirts and Hoodies(Forever Manchester)
Paintings donated by a couple of local artists.
The worse cd collection on earth.
£500 worth of fitness sessions donted by the good folk at Copley fitness centre.
More still to be announced.

We are also looking for people to create and donate stuff with a view to this being auctioned off during the day.

So this is where we are at so far. Again thank you to you all. An epic response.  Cool

The performing schedule on The Verge's website looks a bit different to the one here (which is the one I've been working to). Can you confirm what the latest run down is?

A stunning day everyone. Some stunning bands and performances. Personally I loved both Magic Alex and Spandex. Great to see young people doing it their way.

We raised £2400 and some bits and bobs still to come in.

But well done everyone. A simply splendid effort!

Well done to you – and everyone who helped make the day such a success. It was great to be part of such a worthwhile - and enjoyable - endeavour.
